On the eve of 81st Birthday of Mummy Jee and 7thAnnual Function of our Trust a “Mummy Jee Non-formal school” (for very small children- 3 to 5) was inaugurated in rural area of Ilra Village by District Council, Jyoti devi, Mummy jee director & Munnajee secretary.
All the students belong to very poor families of “schedule tribe” called “Manjhi”. This is a type of community whose families are mostly in poverty, just trying to survive. They work as labors in the houses of other people, in the fields of landlords, because they don’t have their own field property, so, they are compelled to such assignment. Even they are so destitute that, If they get only 4 to 5 kg of rice for that work, then, they think that it is enough for them as a payment. It is also a matter of consideration that their children are quite all the time roaming in the streets, in a piteous state, picking up waste plastics & cartoons, trying to sell them in cheap prices. Their parents are deprived from many facilities and are not so aware how to make their children study. Even themselves are illiterate &don’t know how to sign. So this school will prove to be a boon for them. Because, along with studies, medical care for the children will be also conducted, as well as awareness campaigns for the local people of that village.
After the inauguration of the school, Educational Material, Bags, Dresses & Sweets were distributed among the students. They became very happy to receive the presents and all the material.Parents also were timidly showing their gratefulness.Distribution of school material will be done time to timewithout delay to maintain the craving for studies among the children.
A lady teacher, Amrita Kumari, has been selected to that class and 50 chidren are on the waiting list.
